SIX-A-SIDE Cricket Match Rules

1)   The games will be played under the normal rules of cricket except for the WIDE BALL, NO BALL and LEG BYE laws. (See 12 & 13)

2)   Each team will consist of six playing members.

3)   Matches are twenty (20) overs per side.

4)    One player will be designated as the wicketkeeper for each game. The wicketkeeper cannot bowl. Every other player is required to bowl.

5)    Each game will consist of one inning each side, and played at six (6) balls  an over.

6)    The coin toss for each game will occur before the start of a game. An official will  be assigned to supervise each coin toss.

7)    The innings will conclude when either all the overs have been bowled or all six  Batsmen have been dismissed.

8)     Each game should last for approximately 2 hours (60min/team).

9)     After 25 runs a batsman must retire. If, however, there are overs  remaining after all other batsmen have been gotten out, the retired batsman may return to finish his innings.

10)    The "last man standing" rule applies.

11)     At the fall of the fifth wicket, if more overs or balls are left, the  Batsman dismissed shall act as runner with the remaining batsman. If the runner is dismissed in any way, such as Run-Out, this will count as the last batsman being out, thus terminating the innings.

12)     NO Balls and WIDE Balls shall incur a penalty of one (1) run. No extra balls shall be awarded for either infringement.

12.1)    Short-pitched balls above the shoulder height will be called no balls, resulting in 1 run. The square leg umpire will call the no ball in the event of a ball passing over the ‘batsman’s’ shoulder height, when standing.

12.2)    Full Tosses above the waist will be called no balls, resulting in 1 run

12.3)    Balls will be called wide under criteria of ‘playableness’

12.4)    Hitting a ‘wide’ ball disqualifies it from being a Wide

13)    Rules for Leg Byes and Byes shall apply.
